Man dies after horror A92 smash as cops close busy Scots road for major accident investigation

A man has tragically died after crashing his car on the A92 in Aberdeenshire. Emergency services were called to the scene near North Esk Bridge at around 1.35pm on Thursday.

The 46-year-old, who was the only occupant inside the vehicle, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. His next of kin have been informed.

The road remains closed to allow for a full accident investigation to take place with local diversions put in place by police. Officers are now appealing for witnesses to to the one vehicle crash to come forward.

Sergeant Eoin Maxwell, North East Road Policing Unit, said: "Around 1.35pm on Thursday, 14 July, police were called to a single vehicle road crash on the A92 near to North Esk Bridge, near St Cyrus, Aberdeenshire.

"Emergency services attended, however, the 46-year-old male driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and we are supporting them at this very difficult time.

“Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the crash. The A92 between North Esk Bridge and St Cyrus will remain closed until further notice. Local diversions are in place."
