Man dies after 'fall from window' as emergency services close off Scots street

A man has died after falling from a window in Dundee, prompting a late night emergency response and the closure of a city street.

Cops descended on Albert Street in the Stobswell area shortly after 9pm following reports of an injured man north of Arbroath Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of bystanders and paramedics to save his life.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing a "bang" as the man fell, and locals rushed to assist, with one even dragging a roadworks sign across the road to close it off to passing motorists. Police rapidly erected a cordon in the street and began an investigation into the death.

Local resident Nehall Pingar, 28, said he heard a “loud bang” after the man fell from a second floor window. He added: "It's so sad."

A local delivery driver, who gave his name as Danny, said he became aware of the incident as he was picking up orders from a nearby takeaway. He told the Record: "We phoned for ambulances and all of that right away, we did everything we could.

"It was the worst thing to see. A lot of folk ran over and tried to help but there was nothing we could do."

Multiple emergency vehicles were parked around the incident, including a specialist ambulance incident response unit. A silver tent was erected in the road on Albert Street to hide the casualty from public view while crime scene photographers and plain clothes detectives examined the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Record: “We received a call from the Scottish Ambulance Service to provide assistance on Albert Street, Dundee after a male casualty was found unconscious at 9pm. We attended the locus but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. There are no suspicious circumstances."
