Man dies after emergency services called to Cardiff railway line

A man has died after emergency services were called to a railway line near Cardiff in the early hours of Thursday morning (March 30). British Transport Police confirmed they were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks near St Fagans.

The railway line between Bridgend and Cardiff Central was closed and paramedics attended alongside the police officers.

A statement from British Transport Police confirmed that a man was "pronounced dead at the scene". It added: "This incident is not being treated as suspicious and file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Train services were affected for a short time between 5am and 7am, and Castle Hill in St Fagans was closed for a time as emergency services worked at the scene.

National Rail said: "If you’ve been affected by what happened on the network today, there is always someone to talk to. You can contact the Samaritans on 116 123 from any phone for a confidential chat."
