Gardai have renewed their appeal for information following a collision between a car and a HGV truck in Mayo on February 9.
One man, aged in his 70s, who was a car passenger in the collision, was rushed to Mayo University hospital with life-threatening injuries and has since passed away.
A woman in her 50s, who was also a passenger in the car, remains in critical condition at Beaumont Hospital.
The accident occurred on the N5 in Swinford, Co Mayo at around 12:25 am on Wednesday on the road between Charlestown and Swinford.
Gardai are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
If you were travelling on the N5 between Charlestown and Swinford on Wednesday the February 9, between midnight and 1.00am and may have camera (including dash cam) footage, you should to make this available to investigating Gardaí.

In a statement this afternoon, a spokesperson said: “Gardaí are renewing their appeal for information in relation to the serious road traffic collision that occurred on the N5 in Swinford, Co. Mayo, at approximately 12.25am, Wednesday 9th February 2022.
“A car and a HGV truck collided on the stretch of road between Charlestown and Swinford. Two occupants of the car were seriously injured during the collision.
“The male passenger aged in his late 70s, taken to Mayo University Hospital to be treated for serious injuries, has since passed away.
“The female passenger aged in her 50s, transferred to Beaumont Hospital, remains in critical condition.”
