A man has died after he was struck by a lorry on one of Scotland's main trunk roads.
The 57-year-old was struck by the heavy goods vehicle on the westbound A90 near the Bullionfield Filling Station, just outside of Dundee and the nearby Perthshire village of Invergowrie. Police were called at around 11am on Friday to attend.
Sadly the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident closed the road in both directions, with the eastbound carriageway re-opening around two hours later.
Police in Tayside have now opened an investigation into the incident on the westbound road, which is expected to remain closed until around 6pm.
They are appealing to drivers who were in the area at the time to get in touch if they witnessed anything or may have captured the incident on a dashboard camera.
Sergeant Stephen Livesey, of Police Scotland's Road Policing Unit, said: “Enquiries are at an early stage and we are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or has dash cam footage of the incident.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 1145 of 22 July 2022.
