Man dies after being pulled from water near Scots harbour by emergency services

A man has died after being pulled from a river in Ayrshire.

Emergency services raced to River Irvine near to Marress Road at around 8.40pm last night after reports of concern for a man in the water.

He was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital, however tragically died a short time later.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of concern for a man in the River Irvine near to Marress Road in Irvine shortly after 8.40pm on Wednesday, 14 June.

“The 49-year-old was rescued from the water and taken to Crosshouse Hospital. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
