Man dies after being pulled from water at Scots harbour

A man has died after being pulled from the water at a harbour in North Ayrshire.

Emergency crews, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, raced to Saltcoats Harbour after the alarm was raised shortly after 1pm today.

A 65-year-old man was retrieved from the water but sadly could not be saved.

He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Officers have now launched an investigation into the tragic incident.

They have confirmed, however, that there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the event.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Saltcoats Harbour at 1.15pm on Monday June 27, 2022.

“A 65-year-old man was taken from the water but was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

"Enquiries into the incident are on-going but there appear to be no suspicious circumstances.”
