A man has died after being hit by a train. Emergency services were called to a train line in Cardiff on Saturday following reports of a person being hit by a train.
British Transport Police have now confirmed that a man who was taken to hospital following the incident has died. In a statement, a spokesperson from BTP said: "Officers were called to the line in Whitchurch at 1.45pm on 18 Feb following reports of a casualty of the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended and a man was taken to hospital where he sadly died. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
A National Rail spokesman said on Saturday: "A person hit by a train between Heath Low Level and Coryton means that all lines are closed whilst the emergency services deal with the incident. Trains will be cancelled."
A Welsh Ambulance Service Trust spokesman confirmed they had been called at 1.42pm. One witness at the scene said it happened just before 2pm and said there were a large number of emergency services in the area. The line reopened around 4.30pm and emergency services left the scene.
