Man dies after being hit by HGV on major Glasgow road

A MAN has died after being hit by a lorry on a major Glasgow road.

Traffic police are appealing for information following the fatal crash on the city's Clydeside Expressway.

The incident took place shortly after 1.30pm on Wednesday, January 29 and involved a pedestrian and an HGV.

Sadly, the pedestrian, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Formal identification has not yet taken place.

Now, police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage on the incident to get in touch.

Sergeant Adnan Alan for the Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with family and friends of the man who died.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and I’d like to thank motorists for their patience whilst we dealt with this incident.

“The road re-opened around 7.20pm on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

“We continue to appeal for anyone with dash-cam footage, or who have witnessed the crash to please come forward. “Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting 1688 of January 29, 2025.”

Glasgow City Council said the road was closed between Anderston Cross and Finnieston Street in the West End.

However, officers revealed the road reopened at around 7.20pm following the crash.
