Man dies after being hit by car on A1 in East Lothian as cops launch probe

A man has died after being mowed down by a car in East Lothian.

Emergency services were called to reports of a pedestrian hit by a black Ford Fiesta on the A1 dual carriageway near Dunbar at around 1am on Sunday March 13.

The man, aged 40, was sadly pronounced dead upon their arrival.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta was uninjured and contacted police from the scene.

The road was closed for around five hours as a probe into the smash got underway.

Police expressed their condolences and urged witnesses and those with dash-cam footage to come forward.

Sergeant Jennifer Forbes said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died and we are continuing our enquiries to find out the full circumstances of what happened.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area and saw what happened to get in touch.

"We would also like to hear from you if you were driving in the area and have dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation.

"Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 0269 of Sunday, March 13."
