Man dies after being hit by car in south London hit-and-run as Met Police launches probe

A man in his 20s was killed in a hit-and-run incident in south London in the early hours of this morning, as police launched an investigation.

Officers were called to the scene in Clapham High Street at about 2.40am. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, including London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service, a 27-year-old man died at the scene.

The driver failed to stop after the collision and a number of road closures are still in place as officers continue investigations in the area.

This morning, forensic officers from Metropolitan Police were at the scene outside a bar where a blue tent had been erected in the usually busy high street.
