A man has died onboard an easyJet flight from Cyprus to the UK after being found unresponsive on the flight. Passengers say the alarm was raised when it was found the man in his 50s 'wouldn't wake up'.
Urgent attempts to resuscitate the passenger using a defibrillator proved unsuccessful, reports the Star.
The man appeared to be travelling alone. A passenger praised a young member of cabin crew for her actions: "She's done absolutely amazingly, must be so tricky. The team handled the situation with extraordinary composure and professionalism."
Flight EZY8454 was full of holidaymakers coming home from Paphos. It set off from the Greek island at 12.20pm GMT and concerns for the man's welfare were raised three hours later.
EasyJet cabin crew asked across the plane whether anyone on the flight was a certified doctor or paramedic. Two people raised their hands but unfortunately neither was able to save the man's life.
A man in by the window seat beside the passenger was helped to find a new seat and a defibrillator was brought out in a bid to resuscitate the man.
Cabin crew offered nearby passengers the opportunity to move seats.
At 4.28pm GMT, as the plane passed over Paris, France, the flight's captain confirmed there had been a "medical incident" and asked for everyone to treat the man with dignity.
Passengers were held on landing at Gatwick for paramedics to board and pronounce the passenger's death.
An EasyJet spokesperson said: "easyJet can confirm that sadly a passenger died onboard flight EZY8454 from Paphos to London Gatwick on 17 November.
