Recent records from North Carolina dating back a couple of decades shed light on the background of the man detained in the apparent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Ryan Wesley Routh, the individual in question, has a history of encounters with the law, as per reports.

In 2002, Routh was arrested after an incident where he was pulled over by police. Allegedly, he placed his hand on a firearm and proceeded to drive before barricading himself in a business establishment. This information was sourced from a Greensboro News & Record article from that year, citing police statements. Law enforcement officials confirmed this arrest on Sunday.

Public records indicate multiple court cases involving Routh dating back to the 1990s. State and federal authorities have accused him of recurrently failing to pay taxes on time. In 2008, court records show a federal tax lien of approximately $32,000 against him.

In 1998, the state brought forth allegations related to a 'worthless check' offense against Routh, although that particular case was eventually dismissed. Furthermore, Routh has been subject to court orders mandating him to pay substantial amounts to plaintiffs in various civil suits.

Routh's eldest son, Oran, described his father as a loving, caring, honest, and hardworking individual. Expressing disbelief at the events in Florida, Oran mentioned that based on what he knows, the situation seems exaggerated. He expressed hope that the reported incidents are not reflective of his father's character, stating that the accounts do not align with the man he knows.
