A man has died and a woman is in hospital after the boat they were in capsized on the NSW South Coast.
Emergency services were called to Narooma Bar about 11.30am following reports a small boat had overturned attempting to enter the Bar with two people on board.
A man, believed to be in his 70s, was retrieved from the water by Surf Lifesaving volunteers in an inflatable rescue boat and taken to the beach where paramedics began CPR.
He could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman, in her 60s, was rescued by a passing fishing boat and taken to Moruya Hospital.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was also deployed to assist in the rescue.
A Marine Rescue NSW spokesperson said Bar conditions at the time of the incident were moderate to rough.
Officers from the Eden Water Police had been preparing to retrieve the vessel but it has since washed ashore following the change of tide.
An investigation into the incident is underway and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
