A man has been killed in a suspected gas explosion in a residential street in Falkirk. Emergency services were called to the blast, which took place in an outbuilding on Northfield Road at around 4.10pm on Sunday, October 16.
Police have confirmed that a man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. His death is currently being treated as unexplained, however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
Sources claim the explosion involved a gas canister which blew up inside an outbuilding at the rear of the property. Neighbours reported hearing a loud bang before emergency service workers arrived on the scene.
Officers have stressed that there is no danger to the wider public but remain at the scene while their investigation is ongoing.
A statement from the force said: “We were called around 4.10pm on Sunday, 16 October, to a report of a gas explosion in an outbuilding in the Northfield Road area of Denny.
“Emergency services attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene. There was no danger to the wider public.
“The death is being treated as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.
