A man died and another was badly injured after a crash in Co Laois in the early hours of Friday morning.
Gardai are currently at the scene of the collision on the Ballacolla to Rathdowney Road (L1640), Ballacolla that happened at 1am.
The driver of the car in the single vehicle smash, aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. A male passenger, 30s, was treated at the scene but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The road remains closed this morning with local diversions in place.
A garda spokesperson said: "The Ballacolla to Rathdowney Road (L1640) is closed between Moyne Cross (R434) and Rathmakelly Crossroads pending technical examination. Local diversions are in place.
"Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the Rathdowney Road (L1640) between 12:30am and 1:30am are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Portlaoise Road Garda Station on 057 867 4100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
