A worker has died after being crushed by a bulldozer at a construction site north of Brisbane.
The 55-year-old man was critically injured when the machinery rolled near the Meandu coal mine in Queensland's South Burnett region on Wednesday morning.
He died at the scene, and workplace safety officials and police are investigating.
"All work on site ceased earlier today and a non-disturbance notice has been issued," Workplace Health and Safety Queensland said in a statement.
The man is understood to have been working for Downer, which had a contract with state electricity operator Powerlink to relocate transmission lines.
"Our thoughts are with the man's family and colleagues," a Powerlink representative said.
"Powerlink considers providing a safe working environment for its employees, contractors and the public as essential.
"We will co-operate with the appropriate authorities."
Energy Minister Mick de Brenni said such incidents were tragic and should not happen in any workplace.
"One worker lost is too many," Mr de Brenni told reporters in Brisbane.
The death comes a week after a 17-year-old construction worker died from a fall at a building site in West End in Brisbane's inner city.
Following news of the man's death on Wednesday, the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union repeated its calls for urgent updates to the state's workplace safety laws.
