Man covered in blood after East Kilbride disturbance as images emerge

Images show a man covered in blood following an incident at an East Kilbride shopping centre.

A police cordon was put in place at Greenhills Shopping Centre after emergency services rushed to the scene at around 4pm on Monday. Graphic photos and footage shared on social media show a bloodied man on the ground with a laceration to his hand.

Shocked onlookers rushed to his aid with unconfirmed reports of an altercation.

One witness told Lanarkshire Live : “He was fighting with a guy. He got cracked and the bottle he was threatening his opponent with smashed in his hand when he fell down after getting punched.”

Police Scotland confirmed they were in attendance at the incident which they say involved two men. One man was taken to Wishaw Genral Hospital.

His current medical was not disclosed.

A spokesperson said: “At around 4.05pm on Monday, August 1 we received a report of a disturbance involving two men in Turnberry Place, East Kilbride. Officers are in attendance and one man was taken to Wishaw Hospital.
