Man claimed to be Paul Daniels to escape going back to prison

Officers had a magical morning after a man they stopped claimed to be Paul Daniels to escape going back to prison.

Police from the GMP Middleton team were out on patrol this morning, April 8, when they spotted and stopped a man. Asking him for his name and details, the man claimed to be called Paul Daniels.

His illusion was quickly shattered after one of the officers recognised him as someone else. Police were able to access his true records, and discovered he was wanted for theft from a motor vehicle and had been recalled to prison.
