Man City 'watching' Arsenal star Bukayo Saka and more transfer rumours

Manchester City are poised to go toe-to-toe with Liverpool in pursuit of Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka if the Gunners fail to qualify for next season's Champions League.

That is according to a report by ESPN, who claim that City will consider a move for the England international if Mikel Arteta's side fail to secure a top-four finish.

Saka, who has developed at a rapid rate of knots since making his senior debut for the Gunners in November 2018, has been nothing short of outstanding this season, racking up seven goals and four assists in all competitions.

The winger, who can also play at left-back if needed to, has been a ray of light in what has been a dark couple of years for the north London club and he is, unsurprisingly, attracting plenty of interest.

The report states that both City and Liverpool are 'watching' the 20-year-old's progress and will consider a move for him if Arsenal fail to end their Champions League exile next season.

Saka, since making the step up to the first-team fold, has racked up 114 appearances for Arsenal to date, scoring 18 goals and claiming 25 assists.

Elsewhere, City are 'interested' in signing highly-rated Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo, a report by Spanish publication AS claims.

It is reported that the Uruguayan international is the 'subject of interest' from City and is also attracting interest from other clubs.

The defender, who joined Barcelona B from Boston River in 2018, before making the step up to the Spanish giants' first-team squad a year later, is being heavily linked with a whole host of clubs, including several in the Premier League.

The report states that Manchester United are currently leading the chase for his signature and are 'bidding the strongest' to secure the 22-year-old's signature, despite apparent interest from Chelsea and City.

Out-of-contract at the La Liga club in the summer of 2023, meaning he is now in the final 18 months of his current deal, Araujo could be snapped up in a cut-price deal if he does not put pen to paper on a new deal at the Camp Nou.
