Man City vs Real Madrid: Pep Guardiola confirms injury blow for Champions League decider

Manchester City are set to be without Nathan Ake for their Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that he has a fully-fit squad to pick from, apart from the Dutch defender who is still recovering from a niggling hamstring injury.

“Expect Nathan, everyone is fit,” the City boss told reporters on Tuesday.

Kevin De Bruyne was rested for the weekend win over Everton having scored the equaliser in Madrid, sending the semi-final tie back to the Etihad Stadium level at 1-1.

Guardiola confirmed the Belgian is fit for Wednesday’s game after recently suffering with a thigh injury.

There had also been concerns over Rodri, following his late substitution at Goodison Park after an apparent knock to his knee.

Having succumbed to a late Real comeback when on the verge of reaching the final in this round a year ago, the Spaniard insisted that he will not “overthink” his tactics for this week’s decider.

“I cannot tell you, otherwise Carlo [Ancelotti] will hear” he added.

“I'm not overthinking tomorrow, don’t worry guys. Nothing different to the past, just to be more fluid and play a bit better.”
