Man City are on track to break their Champions League hoodoo but the tournament favourites might not find it as easy to overcome an in-form Atlético Madrid side as the prices suggest.
Regarded by many as the best club side in the world right now, Pep Guardiola's side are naturally expected to progress, as odds of 1/4 with Betfred to qualify for the semi-finals indicate. Atlético are 3/1.
City have reached the quarter-final stage for five successive seasons but they have failed at this hurdle in three of the last four seasons despite being favourites to progress on each occasion.

However, for all their dominance this season, City haven't exactly been bombproof defensively in Europe this term.
They have already conceded ten goals in the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League, five more than in their 13 games in last season's competition, although they have kept clean sheets in their last two matches, their first shut-outs of the European campaign.
RB Leipzig, who sit fourth in the Bundesliga this term, scored three at the Etihad earlier this season and City's prospects of progressing would be dealt a major blow if they conceded at the Etihad on Tuesday.
However, keeping Atlético at bay isn't going to be easy - Diego Simeone's side are arguably in better form now than at any point this season.
The La Liga champions have won their last six matches, including a 1-0 win at Old Trafford last month, and have scored 15 goals in their last six La Liga matches.

There is no doubt that Man City should be favourites to qualify from this tie but Atlético's recent upturn in form suddenly makes this a trickier fixture to negotiate than it would have been at almost any point previously this term.
City have proved vulnerable defensively in this tournament so far so, with Atlético in such a rich vein of scoring form, the most appealing bet appears to be the visitors to find the net at least once, which is a 5/6 chance with Betfred.
That isn't to say that City won't go on to win this match and qualify for the semi-finals, but don't be surprised if this doesn't go as swimmingly as the odds imply.
