Man City trio to avoid sanctions after being filmed on night out

Manchester City players Kyle Walker, Jack Grealish and Riyad Mahrez are not expected to face any sanction from the club after footage emerged of them out in the city centre.

The three Blues were caught on camera outside Albert's Schloss on Peter Street in a video put out on social media that claimed Grealish had been turned away from the popular bar for being 'too drunk'. City refuted this, insisting that the players took the decision to leave after a mix-up with staff.

More generally, the club are satisfied that - unlike in December when Grealish and Phil Foden were dropped to the bench by Pep Guardiola after a night out - there were no issues with the players being out.

As well as Covid restrictions being more relaxed than they were at the end of 2021, the players were out on Sunday evening when all the squad had two days off, the footage was taken in the early evening - the group went off for a meal after leaving Schloss - and all three players were back in on Tuesday to train ahead of the Brentford game.

Guardiola will likely be asked about the incident on Tuesday lunchtime when he takes questions ahead of City's game with Brentford on Wednesday evening.

However, while the manager has sanctioned players this season for what he has regarded as unacceptable behaviour the club are satisfied that everything was above board on Sunday night as the players enjoyed their free time before beginning their preparations for the next match.
