Man City transfer round-up: Erling Haaland move 'so close' as summer plans emerge

Manchester City icon Shaun Goater says he is "trying his best" to convince Erling Haaland to join the club.

Goater, who played alongside Haaland's dad Alf Inge for City, has already promised to try and convince his former teammate's son to move to the Etihad.

It comes with the club reportedly close to finalising the signing of Argentine forward Julian Alvarez – which could impact whether the club move for another striker in the summer.

And the club have been linked with Brighton defender Adam Webster after a string of impressive performances in the Premier League this season.

Here are all the latest Man City transfer rumours.

Pep Guardiola could turn to Adam Webster to improve his defence, it has been claimed.

Manchester Evening News reports City "could consider the £20m defender".

Jamie Carragher this week described the defender's passing out the back with both feet as "better than any other English central defender" – a trait which could reportedly lead to interest from City.

The report adds that Guardiola has "always been very complimentary about Brighton and Graham Potter", so it would "make sense for him to take a punt on their best ball-playing defender".

Summer plans emerge

Julian Alvarez's impending arrival will not stop Manchester City from pursuing Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane or Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland this summer, according to reports.

Alvarez has been touted as one of the brightest prospects in Argentinian football and could become a replacement for his compatriot Sergio Aguero at the Etihad.

But the club will still seek a top-class forward in the next transfer window, according to ESPN.

It is claimed that City "remain open to the idea" that Alvarez could be part of Guardiola's squad next season, but Kane and Haaland remain on their shortlist of targets.

Haaland move 'so close'

Shaun "The Goat" Goater is "doing his best" to convince Erling Haaland to move to Manchester City.

Sports Illustrated reports the former City striker says the club is "so close" to sealing the signing of the Norwegian striker.

Haaland is said to become one of the most sought-after signings of the year when a £68million release clause kicks into his contract this summer.

And Goater appears to be doing all he can to convince his old teammate's son to join the club his father played for.
