Man City transfer news: Contact made over AC Milan star with Leicester teenager targeted

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak claims the Premier League champions will keep spending despite splashing out £51million on Erling Haaland.

Man City are also bringing highly-rated Argentinian Julian Alvarez back early from a loan deal, and want at least two more signings to bolster Pep Guardiola's options. The title holders want a midfield replacement for the departing Fernandinho and a full-back with Oleksandr Zinchenko tipped to leave as well.

City are determined to build from a position of strength to maintain their Premier League supremacy and keep ahead of rivals Liverpool and Chelsea. Mirror Sport has the latest transfer updates on City's summer plans from across the media...

City make contact over AC Milan star

Foot Mercato's Santi Aouna claims City have made contact with super agent Jorge Mendes over a move for AC Milan star Rafael Leao. The report claims City opened dialogue with Mendes a few weeks ago over the possibility of prising the Portuguese away from the San Siro.

Leao is attracting growing attention after scoring 14 goals and making 12 assists to help Milan end their 11-year title wait. Milan have offered him new terms, but are not said to be confident of hanging on to one of their most-prized assets. Leao, 22, has also caught Real Madrid's eye and it is understood he would be interested in joining them given the chance.

Silva wants Spain switch

Bernardo Silva was linked with a move away from City before he opted to stay and help the club win a fourth Premier League title in five years. Now, Sports Illustrated is linking the Portugal star with a transfer again this summer.

They claim Silva has set his heart on a move to Barcelona, despite the club's offer of a new deal until 2025. Barca may cash in on Frenkie de Jong this summer, freeing up room in their midfield for Silva, and City were linked with the Dutch star a couple of weeks ago.

City keen on Leicester youngster

Sport Bible claims City are keen on Leicester's teenage defender Ben Nelson as they look to boost the homegrown contingent in their squad. City have eight homegrown players and that number could fall when Scott Carson leaves, while Raheem Sterling's Etihad future is uncertain.

Nelson, 18, could help bolster their numbers and is tipped for a bright future. He has yet to play a senior game for Brendan Rodgers' Foxes and must decide if his first-team prospects are better served by staying at the King Power Stadium or moving to City.
