Manchester City are set to sign Harrison Parker from Manchester United in a move that is said to be 'revenge' for losing two players to their arch rivals.
The treble-winners are expected to beat several Premier League competitors for the 16-year-old's signature this summer. It would also be a rare transfer between the two clubs as Parker prepares to switch from red to blue for a 'significant fee' should an agreement be reached.
Parker, 16, made his debut for United's Under 18s side last season and was set to become a scholar at Old Trafford this summer. The Red Devils have reportedly offered him one of the best scholarship contracts to fend off interest from elsewhere.
However, Parker has since decided to join City instead, with the centre-back set to pen a scholarship deal - having also spent a number of years at Arsenal before moving to United in 2021. He is also an England youth international and is highly-rated amongst those in academy football.
City have a rich tradition of being one of the best academies in elite football, having helped bring through many players, including Phil Foden, through into the first-team. Others, such as Romeo Lavia, have progressed past the academy and into a professional before leaving.
Parker will be hoping he can now replicate those academy graduates before him after snubbing United's offer. But the deal comes following another transfer saga between the two Manchester clubs. Tyler and Jack Fletcher, sons of ex-United midfielder Darren, are set to make the move in the opposite direction to Old Trafford.
The pair have been in the City academy for nine years but are ever-presents in the directors' box for United home games. Darren Fletcher played for United between 2003-2015 before becoming the club's new technical director in 2021.
Meanwhile, City's first-team have already been busy recruiting and adding to their squad, with Mateo Kovacic arriving in a big-money move from Chelsea. That has seen Ilkay Gundogan go out of the door, however, with the German joining Barcelona on a free transfer.
Pep Guardiola's men continue to be linked with Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig, while a new full-back could also be on the agenda.
