Manchester City will face Chelsea twice in less than 72 hours in January, after their FA Cup third round clash was confirmed for TV broadcast.
City will welcome Graham Potter's side to the Etihad Stadium for their first home game of 2023 on Sunday January 8, with BBC One showing the game live. Kick off is at 4.30pm.
That means that just two days separate City's Premier League trip to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea for their opening fixture of the New Year. That game takes place at 8pm on Thursday January 5, with not much turnaround before a cup rematch at the Etihad.

Drawing Chelsea makes City's difficult start to 2023 even tougher, with a Manchester derby away at Manchester United following the two Chelsea games on January 14. The rearranged home game with Tottenham follows on January 19 - unless City and Chelsea need a cup replay on that week - before the scheduled away trip to Tottenham and the rearranged clash at Arsenal all on the fixture list before February 15.
League games against Wolves and Aston Villa are also scheduled for those first six weeks of 2023, as are possible FA Cup fourth round ties, a Carabao Cup quarter-final, and two-legged Carabao Cup semi-final.
City resume action after the World Cup on December 22 in a home Carabao Cup clash with Liverpool, before facing Leeds away in the Premier League on December 28 and hosting Everton on New Year's Eve.
The Blues are facing Chelsea in the cup for the second time this season, after winning 2-0 last month in the Carabao Cup third round at the Etihad.
