Man City star Phil Foden nominated for PFA Young Player of the Year with five others

Manchester City star Phil Foden has been nominated for the PFA's Young Player of the Year award.

Foden won this award last year and will be looking to retain his crown in 2022. The 22-year-old has already won the Premier League's Young Player of the Year award and no doubt Foden will hope to add this to his personal accolades this season.

It has been yet another memorable campaign for the Stockport-born midfielder. Foden managed 14 goals and 11 assists in 2021/22 as City reached the round of 16 in the League Cup before semi-final runs in the FA Cup and Champions League.

However, it was in the league where City were rewarded for another stellar year. The Blues lifted the title on the last day of the season beating Aston Villa 3-2 at the Etihad.

Should Foden walk away with the prize, he will have to have fended off tough competition. The other nominees include Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe, Aston Villa's Jacob Ramsey, Chelsea's Reece James and Crystal Palace's loanee Conor Gallagher.

Foden will learn whether he has won the coveted award on Thursday, June 9.
