Soccer iceman Erling Haaland is even cooler than ever – after buying a cryotherapy chamber to stay in mint condition.
The steely-eyed Manchester City goal scorer splashed out £50,000 on the walk-in ice pod for his Cheshire pad.
It can take temperatures as low as -200C to help treat and rehabilitate human tissue.
And it clearly helps – 22-year-old Haaland has scored 11 goals, including two hat-tricks, in just seven Premier League games since joining City.
For a whole-body treatment, the Norwegian star wears protective mitts before clambering into the body-sized capsule.
Liquid nitrogen is then pumped into the air surrounding the cylinder to cool the body.
Fitness fanatic Haaland – who wears special glasses in the evening to filter out light from devices that can hamper sleep – has been having ice bath treatments for two years.
The star striker, whose dad Alf-Inge starred for City, Leeds and Nottingham Forest, reportedly earns £375,000 a week.
He has taken British football by storm since arriving from Germany’s Borussia Dortmund.
And he is renowned for meticulous planning, stressing: “I see this as key to improving performance by even just a few percentages.
“For me, it’s about the small things in the fight to get better day by day.”
He added: “Every day provides a new opportunity to get even better. Basically, it’s a matter of mentality.
"I hope I manage to stay focused and I hope we have not seen the best edition of Erling Haaland yet.”
Users can spend a maximum of five minutes in the chamber.
Any longer could pose a serious risk to health.
But advocates of the treatment reckon it boosts blood circulation, improves the immune system, decreases fatigue and helps injuries heal more rapidly.
Other stars who swear by the chambers include Man United’s Cristiano Ronaldo, 37, and Marcus Rashford, 24 – who face City today – and 33-year-old Wales legend Gareth Bale.
