Man City ‘ready to meet £45m asking price’ for Marc Cucurella and more transfer rumours

Manchester City are reportedly ready to meet Brighton’s asking price and launch a £45m bid for full-back Marc Cucurella.

The player has four years left on his contract after enjoying a terrific debut Premier League season. Graham Potter would rather not lose the full-back hence his club's steep price tag.

But with Oleksandr Zinchenko tipped to leave the Etihad this summer, Pep Guardiola is looking for cover at left-back. The Catalan coach is said to have kept tabs on Cucurella ever since he left Barcelona in 2020.

There had been talks between City and Brighton but there seemed to be no advancements on a deal. However, Sportitalia now reports that City are ready to up the ante.

With Raheem Sterling set to exit and Gabriel Jesus already departing for Arsenal, City have more funds to spend. The source says that the overall package will total £45m, meaning the initial fee for the defender may be lower.

Meanwhile, journalist Ben Jacobs claims Sterling’s transfer to Chelsea is expected to be completed shortly. Personal terms have already been agreed but he claims a £45m deal - plus £10m in potential add-ons - is expected to go through soon and his unveiling will happen in the next few days.
