Manchester City are reportedly prepared to walk away from their pursuit of Marc Cucurella if Brighton’s demands go too high.
Cucurella is being heavily linked with a move to the Etihad this summer following an impressive first season in the Premier League. City are in the market for a new left-back this summer, having spent last season with Joao Cancelo switching sides in order to cover the position.
The Athletic report that City are set to begin talks with Brighton over the coming days, but may yet walk away from a potential deal. The Seagulls are said to be expecting something similar to the £50million they received from Arsenal for Ben White last summer.

It is claimed though that City are prepared to end their pursuit should the fee approach that mark. The report does suggest there is room for negotiation though, with the Blues said to be confident that an agreement can be reached.
Personal terms are not thought to be an issue in their pursuit, which could speed a transfer up. Chelsea have also been linked to the Spain international, but Cucurella is reportedly intent on joining City.
Elsewhere, Gabriel Jesus is reportedly trying to get the Blues to agree a fee with Arsenal as he eyes up an exit from the Etihad. The Brazilian has been linked with a move away this summer, with Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez’s arrivals potentially pushing him further down the pecking order.
Arsenal are claimed to have had a £30m offer already rejected by City, with the Blues wanting nearer £50m for the forward. Despite Eddie Nketiah signing a new deal, the Gunners are in need of a new frontman following the departures of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this year.
According to Goal Brazil though, Jesus is attempting to get City and Pep Guardiola to agree a deal with the north London club. The report suggests there is also pressure coming from Jesus’ representatives for a deal to be completed.
