Erling Haaland continues to be linked with a move to the Premier League, despite Jurgen Klopp’s recent comments.
Liverpool were previously credited with an interest in signing Haaland last summer, with his future at Borussia Dortmund still up in the air. Since he arrived in January 2020, the Norway international has scored 80 goals in 79 appearances.
Haaland’s form has led to him being linked with many of Europe’s top clubs, including Liverpool. The likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester United have also been mentioned as potential suitors.
However, it appears that Manchester City are the club who are most likely to sign Haaland this summer. Last year, Pep Guardiola tried to bring Harry Kane to the Etihad Stadium, but he ended up staying with Tottenham Hotspur.

According to renowned journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Man City have made an offer to both Dortmund and Haaland to get a deal done this summer. This will include a transfer fee and a wage offer.
The report says that City are ready to pay Haaland’s £63m release clause, which is said to come into effect this summer. It has then been claimed that the 22-year-old has been offered a yearly wage worth £25m over five years, which would be worth £125m in total.
The money doesn’t stop there, with the report going on to say that Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola, would also be due a fee. It has been claimed that Man City would have to pay £58m to Raiola in agent’s fees in order to sign Haaland.
All of this together means that, if the report is to be believed, the cost of signing Haaland for City would cost £246m. Klopp recently admitted that the money involved means that Liverpool had ‘no chance’ of signing Haaland this summer.
As reported by Goal, Klopp told SportBild last week: “We won’t be going there. The numbers involved are just crazy – we’ll be having nothing to do with it. No chance!
“To be honest, I don’t want anything to do with it. It’s not fun.”
