Manchester City players past and present have sent emotional messages to Ilkay Gundogan after the midfielder's move to Barcelona was confirmed on Monday.
Gundogan is set to be released by City when his contract expires at the end of the month, calling time on a seven-year stay at the Etihad. Talks over a new contract had been ongoing for some time, but the 32-year-old rejected an offer of a one-year deal with the option of a second, seeking a fresh challenge.
Barcelona have long been tipped as the German's next destination, and that move was confirmed on Monday morning. Gundogan signed a two-year deal with the Catalan side and has the option to extend for a further 12 months.
In an emotional farewell, the former Blues captain admitted he will always carry City in his heart, thanking everyone involved with the club and recalling some of his best memories at the Etihad.
