Man City player ratings vs Chelsea as Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez good

Ortega: Made a number of good saves and distribution was mostly good as well. 8

Walker: Came out on top overall up against his former teammate Sterling. 7

Akanji: Solid showing, bossing the defence in the Dias role before getting an early rest. 7

Laporte: Calm with his foot on the ball whenever Chelsea pressed, helping City keep control. 7

Gomez: Almost gifted Chelsea an early opening with poor play but improved after that and looked better in midfield. 7

Phillips: A few nice balls over the top and a thumping header that came off the inside of the post. 7

Foden: Played with the confidence and quality of someone keen to get their place back in the team. 8

Lewis: Thrived as a No.8 linking up with his fellow academy graduates to continue a fine season. 7

Palmer: Made life uncomfortable for Azpilicueta all day despite being on his less-favoured left side. 8

Mahrez: Some nice touches as usual but struggled to insert himself into the game. 6

Alvarez: A nice finish for his first and was always in the box when City needed him. 8
