Man City player ratings for the season include two perfect 10s after Treble

Ederson: Received some fair criticism in the season and lots of unfair criticism, but saved his best performances for games against Bayern, Real, and Inter. A matchwinner in Istanbul as much as Rodri. 8

Ortega: A promising debut season. Poor in the Carabao Cup defeat to Southampton (although who wasn't?) but impressed enough otherwise to keep his place for the FA Cup Final. 7

Lewis: The man credited by Pep Guardiola with showing John Stones how to play his hybrid role. A phenomenal impact from a boy who only turned 18 in November and has so much potential he looks like he could emulate Stones in the future. 8

Walker: Some terrific performances in the final part of the season that underline his enduring class - not least against Vinicius in the second leg - albeit a year in which injury kept out of the team before the World Cup and other players did when City were finding their form. 7

Dias: Another who had limited impact before February, but as soon as he worked his way back into the team he was undroppable. Outstanding as a defender and as a leader, inspiring everyone around him with his commitment and celebrating the efforts of his teammates. 8

Laporte: His season began late after his Herculean efforts to win City the title last year, and while he never played badly he could never displace any of the defenders above him in the pecking order as Guardiola shifted his priorities for what he wanted at the back. 6

Stones: Stones has always looked like City's classiest defender when he has played but he took his skills to an astonishingly high level with the new role stepping into midfield. After so long being under the radar, he is now bossing games such as the Champions League final like only the best players in the world can. 9

Akanji: A debut season in English football that nobody saw coming. To have gone from a reserve at Dortmund with barely any Premier League interest to a Treble winner is crazy, and while it took a while for him to gain the trust of City fans his place in the song for the defence is now secure. 8

Ake: As Guardiola said early in the New Year, he was so good that the team couldn't play well without him. Injury cruelly cost him his place in some big games at the end of the season but he was one of the most consistent over the campaign and deserved to return in Istanbul. 9

Cancelo: Probably a 9/10 in previous seasons but a year from hell for Cancelo, throwing his toys out of the pram after losing his place in the team and heading to Bayern to try to win the Treble - only to get knocked out by his parent club and mocked by their fans as City knocked the German club out en route to history instead. 3

Gomez: Provided an assist in a Manchester derby, although his performances showed why City originally weren't planning on him at left-back. A question mark over his place in the squad for next season - particularly if he wants more regular football.. 5

Rodri: You could pick out a few bad performances (including his last!) but that was it, which is phenomenal consistency for a player who made more starts in a season under Guardiola ever has at City. The goal against Inter will go down in history and his effort against Bayern was critical too. Basically, he is the holding midfielder every club in world football wishes they had. 10

Phillips: What was billed as an excellent signing went downhill from the moment he missed his unveiling in front of fans in July. Injury ruled him out of the first part of the season and he never looked like he belonged in the shirt. A big decision for all parties to make this summer. 4

Gundogan: His turn into 'prime Zidane', as Kyle Walker put it in the last months of the season, was even more exceptional this year with the fastest FA Cup final goal ever. A wonderful midfielder and captain that has earned the right to choose what he does next season but City badly hope he will still be around. 8

De Bruyne: A year of highs and lows. To get 28 assists is exceptional and he found his best form in March and April after some had dared to suggest he was on the decline, but injuries caught up with him to see another painful early substitution in the Champions League final 8

Bernardo: Another midfielder crucial to the Treble with doubts over who his next game will be for. His running earned him a place in the team for the biggest games and two goals against Real Madrid were the icing on another stellar contribution. 8

Mahrez: Mahrez was the one who lost his place to Bernardo, but his form alongside Grealish between January and March should not be forgotten because City would not have won the league without him. Guardiola said after the FA Cup semi-final he had 'failed to convince' the player, although a Wembley hat-trick isn't bad. 8

Palmer: The hope was that he would kick on. after a promising season had been cut short by injury, but Palmer was underwhelming for the majority of the campaign. He found his form and his confidence in the final weeks of the season after the Premier League was won - will that be enough to keep his place next year? 5

Alvarez: A remarkable haul of goals and trophies for the minutes he played as he settled quickly into European football, as well as winning a World Cup! Still learning his trade in the game and the team, and could do with finding more consistency next year. 7

Foden: A strange season that included a Manchester derby hat-trick and over an hour in the Champions League final, yet also saw him on the bench for far longer than anyone expected. The talent of the player was never in doubt but others were better at the specific qualities Guardiola wanted. 7

Grealish: One of the main reasons Foden could not feature more often was the form and consistency of Grealish, whose level across the whole season could only be bettered by three at most. He will be disappointed he could not have more impact in the two big finals, but his place in the team for such games was not in doubt because of everything that had come before. 9

Haaland: Arrived with huge expectations and smashed every single one of them. The scary part, as he pointed out after the Champions League final when asking Thierry Henry for advice, is that the 22-year-old can get much better. Already though, he has scored goals at a rate the Premier League has never seen before. 10

Shea Charles and Maximo Perrone both made one appearance but not enough for a mark.
