Man City: Pep Guardiola hints at new Rodri injury return timeline after training footage surfaces

Back in training: Rodri - (ManCity / X)

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola appears to have teased a return to full fitness for Rodri sooner than expected.

Rodri has been sidelined since the middle of September after sustaining an ACL injury during the goalless draw at home to Arsenal.

Guardiola would later confirm that Rodri would miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery.

Though, that did not stop the midfielder from revealing his intention return to action before the end of the season but Guardiola has always stressed the importance of the 28-year-old rushing back from a serious injury.

Having said that, there was some positive news regarding Rodri this week as footage of his return to training surfaced on social media.

The midfielder was back on the grass taking part in an individual training session as he continues his rehabilitation.

In addition, the prospect of Rodri perhaps featuring for Man City before the season ends was raised when Guardiola delivered an interesting update when speaking ahead of the FA Cup fifth round tie at home to Plymouth.

"We can't go three days, three days three days, so many games,” he told ITV Sport when explaining his team selection after making 11 changes to the Man City starting XI.

“And of course we need fresh legs and players to come on the team. This is (the full squad) except Oscar Bobb and Rodri, that they are close both to come back and it is the first time we will have more or less the squad and I am pretty sure if the season had been more or less that way the circumstances would have been different.”
