Man City may have just given Liverpool a bigger transfer problem than Erling Haaland

The new Premier League season is less than two weeks away and promises to be one of the most competitive campaigns in recent years.

Liverpool have strengthened in the transfer market by recruiting Calvin Ramsay, Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho, while main title rivals Manchester City have signed Erling Haaland and Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

It's not only last year's top two who have made made encouraging acquisitions, however, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all adding quality into their groups.

One concern Jurgen Klopp has hinted at over the way the window has played out relates to the way in which City have gone about their business this summer.

Not only have the Sky Blues brought two big-name players to the Etihad Stadium - they have also allowed several players of their own sign for top-six competitors.

"It was clear beforehand that Tottenham are going in the right direction, it was clear, you could see that last year - the signings made absolute sense. [Manchester] City didn't only bring in players, they gave two to Arsenal, and one to Chelsea," Klopp told Sky Sports this weekend.

Raiding his former employers, Mikel Arteta has been able to tempt both Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko to make the move to north London while Raheem Sterling has headed to Chelsea. The early signs are promising as far as Jesus is concerned, having scored in each of his four pre-season appearances for the Gunners.

Although Arsenal themselves may not quite be ready to mount a title bid, there's every reason to suggest Liverpool can be braced for tougher tests when taking on sides located at the top end of the table this term.

City have strengthened and Haaland will be gunning for glory - but a hat-trick of unwanted stars have left the Etihad with Premier League experience, and they will all be hoping to prove a point at their new clubs when the campaign gets underway.
