Manchester City are lagging behind Real Madrid in the pursuit of Erling Haaland, according to the latest reports.
Haaland is of course one of the hottest properties in world football right now, with Europe’s top clubs looking set to battle it out for his signature in the summer.
The 21-year-old is widely expected to move on from Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season, with a €75million coming into effect during the summer which will no doubt spark a bidding war.
Manchester United are already said to have pulled out of the running due to Madrid being favourites for Haaland’s signature, and City look to be facing an uphill battle against the Spanish giants as well.
ESPN report that City are providing strong competition for the striker, who is suggested to be commanding wages of £30million-a-year from whichever club he joins.
But while City are said to have the ability to compete with Madrid on a financial level, they’re still thought to be lagging behind them in the battle to sign Haaland, with the Norwegian still favouring the move to the Spanish capital.
Elsewhere, Dusan Vlahovic is expected to remain with Fiorentina this month despite the level of interest surrounding the striker.
Vlahovic has been heavily linked with a move away from Serie A in January, with City among those clubs said to be vying for his signature.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano though has quoted Fiorentina CEO Joe Barone as saying: “We’ve not received any bid from Juventus for Dusan. There are talks with English clubs but it should involve three parties, not two.”
“I spoke with Dusan last week: zero answers on his future. His agents, same.”
Vlahovic is now being tipped to stay with Fiorentina until at least the summer, with Todofichajes reporting that the player doesn’t want to leave midway through the season.
