Man City issue Erling Haaland update for Arsenal after Ruben Dias call

Pep Guardiola does not think that Erling Haaland is injured but will wait to see what the Manchester City doctors say this week.

The No.9 came off at half-time in the 3-1 win over Villa, having not taken a penalty kick that the manager wanted him to and seeming to suffer a few knocks. He had treatment on a thigh midway through the half after a collision with Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez, and was not seen for the second half.

Guardiola could not confirm whether the striker will be fit for the top-of-the-table clash with Arsenal. However, the fact that he would have kept Haaland on if City hadn't been 3-0 ahead at half-time indicated the manager's confidence that all will be well.

"If the result was more tight then maybe I don't do it. I don't think he's injured but tomorrow we will see. Hopefully he can be in for Wednesday, if it is a risk or he is not ready he's not going to play."

Ruben Dias was also taken off at half-time, on his first league start since October, and replaced by Manu Akanji. Guardiola said that this was not down to injury risk but rather the fact that the Portugal international was on a yellow card - suggesting that the centre-back will be firmly in the manager's plans for the next few games.

Dias and Aymeric Laporte were back in the team together for the first time since October to continue their fine record together; City have won 17 of their last 19 league games when the duo have started.
