Man City hit with major double injury concern before Liverpool semi-final after Atletico Madrid tie in Champions League

Man City face major injury concerns ahead of Saturday's FA Cup semi-final tie against Liverpool with Kyle Walker and Kevin de Bruyne being forced off with injuries on Wednesday night.

Pep Guardiola's side faced Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday night and will meet Real Madrid in the semi-finals. But injuries to Walker and De Bruyne have left the current Premier League leaders with a fitness headache just days before a key fixture.

De Bruyne was taken off for Raheem Sterling and then spotted with ice around his right leg while sitting on the bench. For England defender Walker, things could be a lot serious after he appeared to be in a lot of discomfort following a clearance. Walker tried to play on but was forced off to be replaced by Nathan Ake.

Both players featured in last week's 2-2 draw against the Reds, De Bruyne opened the scoring, with Liverpool warming up for the cup fixture at Wembley Stadium over the weekend with a back and forth 3-3 draw against Benfica, winning the tie 6-4 on aggregate. Ibrahima Konate opened the scoring before Matias Ramos drew his side level. Roberto Firmino scored twice to increase the lead on the night to 3-1 before Roman Yaremchuk and Darwin Nunez found the back of the net to set up a nervy end to the match.

The win sets them up for a semi-final berth against Spanish side Villarreal who knocked out Bayern Munich on Tuesday night, keeping Liverpool's hopes of an unprecedented quadruple alive.
