Manchester City's final-day Premier League triumph was of course a great achievement, but it pales in comparison to what hundreds if not thousand of Blues have managed to achieve off the pitch.
MCFC Fans Foodbank Support have announced that City fans have donated over 2,200kg of food and sanitary products on matchdays this season, while also donating thousands of pounds through matchday collections, fundraising events and online.
The group - found standing under their gazebo at the start of Sir Howard Bernstein Way before 17 home weekend matches at the Etihad this season - have taken donations this year that equal 600 days of emergency food for the most vulnerable people in Manchester.
Since their inception on New Year's Day 2020 the group have worked hard alongside Manchester Central Foodbank to tackle the rising rates of poverty in the region.
"We’ve always believed that City fans could have a major positive impact in the community, and the amount they have donated this season proves it," the group said in a statement. "Without Blues donating on matchdays and online, many across North, East and South Manchester would have faced starvation."
The impact that the donations of City fans have had on Manchester Central Foodbank, and how they have helped local communities, cannot be understated.
"We’d like to say a massive thank you to City fans," said Patsy Davies, assistant project manager at Manchester Central Foodbank.
"We’re seeing rising numbers of people using our foodbank and have given out over 2,500 food parcels so far this year. The numbers are only rising and we’re currently 50% down on our donations from last year. So, we’d just like to say a massive, massive thank you for your continued solidarity and support."
Alongside their food poverty work, MCFC FFS has also supported people in poverty in other ways. The group has passed on donations to the Greater Manchester Law Centre and has an affiliation with the Greater Manchester Tenants Union, in order to assist those in poverty with rent issues.
They have also been vocal backers of the ongoing Right to Food campaign, a national campaign in which the National Fans Supporting Foodbanks Network is working to end food poverty in the UK entirely.
Looking ahead to next season, the group are only looking to increase their work.
"Our plans for 2022/23 are unconfirmed, but we are looking to start doing women's games and also provide an extra donation/drop off point for men's games," said Alex Timperley, founding member of MCFC FFS. "We are looking at doing some Women's Euros games in the summer too."
However, despite the excellent work MCFC FFS do it seems that support from the club is not exactly forthcoming.
"They don't want anything to do with us it seems, and that's fine by us," said Alex. They know where we are if they change their minds. The only positive contact we've had off them for a while is about the Hillsborough stuff [campaign to add Hillsborough disaster to the school curriculum], and nothing has even happened with that yet."
There's no question though that City fans have been brilliant in their support.
"We’d like to thank everyone who donates on matchdays as well as all the City fan groups, Official Supporters Clubs, the 1894 Group and a whole range of City fan podcasters, writers, YouTubers and others who have been incredible," the group said.
"It only works with the generosity of City fans, so a huge thank you to all from us. We hope that this is something that Blues around the world can be proud of."
