An FA Cup tie against a side struggling at the bottom of the Championship would normally represent a chance for some Manchester City youngsters to be involved.
Against Swindon and Fulham in previous rounds, City have given minutes to Cole Palmer, James McAtee, Kayky, Liam Delap and Romeo Lavia among others.
Now the cup progresses to the fifth round, Pep Guardiola must decide whether to go strong, rotate using only his senior players, or reward some of those youngsters with more game time. McAtee, Delap and Lavia have been among those switching their time between first-team training and under-23 games.
Players like McAtee and Palmer have even been involved in two games in a day this season on occasions where the first team have named them on the bench in the afternoon before the youth team play in the evening. Other occasions have seen EDS starts for players just one day after they were in the senior matchday squad.
However, City may have to decide which players from the academy they intend to use at Peterborough on Tuesday as the under-23s have an important fixture of their own on Monday night.
Unlike occasions where the first team play first, it would be difficult for one of the more 'senior' academy players to start against Leicester in the Premier League 2 on Monday and then be involved for a significant role at Peterborough 24 hours later.
McAtee would fancy his chances of a first-team call-up after recently signing a new contract and adding to his senior appearances, while Liam Delap has been used in a number of games in the cup, Premier League and Champions League.
Guardiola will give an update on his plans on Monday afternoon when he faces the media, but the teamsheet against Leicester in the Premier League 2 may give a stronger indication of City's selection plans.
Meanwhile, EDS captain CJ Egan-Riley stressed the importance of kicking on after the big win over second-placed West Ham last time out to move seven points clear at the top of the table.
"We can't wait for the game. In the last few games, we've had really good performances and results and some clean sheets, which is always important for me," he said.
"We can't let it slip. We have to keep our foot on the pedal and keep pushing. We need to carry on the momentum and beat Leicester at their place.
"We have to believe in how good we are as a team. When we're at our best, it's hard to play against us. We're a top team, training every day and sometimes it's harder in training because we know we've got such good players, so then when it comes to the game, it's easy.
"We need to believe in our ability and stick together - that's the main thing."
