Man City Conti Cup semi-final date confirmed as reigning champs face Arsenal repeat

The FA Continental Tyres League Cup semi-final dates have been confirmed as Manchester City's semi-final clash with Arsenal set to played on February at Meadow Park.

The other semi-final fixture is an all-London affair as Chelsea face West Ham, which will be played on February at Chigwell Construction Stadium.

The semi-finals fall midweek between the final two WSL matches before the international break, meaning Gareth Taylor side will take on bottom-of-the-table Leicester before facing Arsenal in the semi-finals midweek and then once again on the Saturday as the Gunners travel to the Academy Stadium for their first WSL clash with the Citizens of the season.

City extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 15 games with a 7-0 win over Women's Championship side Sheffield United in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup on Sunday. Yet, with City sat fourth in the league and two points shy of Arsenal who tout a game in hand, a focus on next week's semi-final clash against Arsenal could take precedence over the league fixture.

The prospect of laying claim to the first piece of silverware up for grabs this season will be surely be a tantalising one, particularly as the reigning Conti Cup champions have the chance to match Arsenal's record five Cup titles since the tournament's inaugural season in 2011.

City defeated Chelsea in front of a record crowd last season with a thrilling comeback 3-1 comeback inspired by a Caroline Weir brace sandwiching Ellen White’s poached effort.

City coolly dispatched Championship side Bristol City 6-0 in the quarter-finals to book their ticket in next week's semi-finals. Hayley Raso had City up 2-0 inside the quarter hour mark before Khadija Shaw, Lauren Hemp and Mary Fowler added their names to the scoresheet at their leisure.

Arsenal represent far more heady opposition than the Championship promotion hopefuls, and the double helping just three days apart before the international break will loom heavy on both managers' minds as they consider their respective blueprints. Jonas Eidevall's side know a wobble in the league could obliterate their title chances given how tight the race at the top has become.

City return to WSL action on February when they travel to Leicester City on Saturday.
