Man City commentator makes brilliant observation about Haaland & Celtic defender

On Matchday Two of the Celtic USA Tour 2024, Brendan Rodgers and his Celtic players overcame current English Premier League champions Manchester City 4-3.

Goals from Kyogo Furuhashi, Luis Palma and a brace from Nicolas Kuhn made the difference on the night, with the likes of Matt O'Riley and debutant Kasper Schmeichel also turning in positive performances for the reigning Scottish Premiership champions.

For Man City, it was Oscar Bobb, Maximo Perrone and Erling Haaland who hit the scoreboard, and it was after the latter's header to make it 3-3 that the City commentary team made an astute observation about how the towering Norwegian took his goal.

As Haaland made his run against Celtic's Liam Scales, the forward nudged the defender off-balance, opined co-commentator and former player Andy Morrison, which allowed him the space to attack the ball and score.

"Once Bobb sits this up, there's just a little bump," said Morrison live on Manchester City's coverage. "[Haaland] just knocks [Scales]. If he doesn't knock him initially, then [Scales] can jump back into Haaland's face. So it's really clever from Haaland."

Haaland is, of course, one of the very best strikers in European football at the moment – but as Celtic stare down the coming season's newly-formatted UEFA Champions League, there's clearly plenty of experience to be gleaned from these high-profile, marque preseason friendlies for Brendan Rodgers and his players.

Celtic now prepare for their third and final US tour exhibition against Chelsea this Saturday, before their domestic trail kicks off against Kilmarnock at Celtic Park on Sunday, August 4.
