Man City CEO Ferran Soriano gives update on Bernardo Silva's future amid Barcelona interest

Manchester City's CEO Ferran Soriano has provided the latest update on Bernardo Silva's future at the club amid transfer interest from Barcelona.

The La Liga side have been intensely pursuing a deal to sign the 28-year-old this summer as they look to bolster their squad before the transfer window closes next week. It is believed that City will not even discuss a deal for Silva unless Barcelona submit a bid of at least £80million.

Both Pep Guardiola and Silva have openly admitted this month that they are unsure as to whether the Portuguese international will be a City player at the end of the transfer window. There is no doubt over the player's dedication and commitment, as Silva himself has stressed that he will give his all to the Blues should he remain at the club this summer.

Soriano was recently captured telling fans that "of course" Silva was staying at the Etihad this transfer window, despite Barcelona's interest in the player. Now the City CEO has gone one step further after he gave fans yet another hint that the player is not going anywhere this summer.

He told Spanish outlet Què T'hi Jugues: "It's a little late [in the transfer window] to talk about ins and outs.

"This story has taken many turns and in the end it has never moved from its starting point".

The City boss' comments will be a relief to fans of the club as he looks to be adamant over the fact that the Blues are sticking with their current group of players for the rest of the Premier League season.

Former City player Pablo Zabaleta also spoke to the same outlet as he shared his views on the idea that Silva himself wants to stay at the club. He said: "My feeling is that Bernardo is enjoying himself at City. You never know what can happen until the market ends but he is a key player and I see him well at City".
