Man City can clear path for Nottingham Forest to complete stunning Chelsea transfer

Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill this summer as the Blues target more defensive reinforcements for Thomas Tuchel's squad.

The Daily Mail claim that Tuchel is yet to make a decision on Colwill's future, but the club's interest in other defenders suggests that the 19-year-old will struggle for game time at Stamford Bridge next season. Chelsea are said to be 'weighing up plans' for Armando Broja and Colwill as both young players aim to make an impression this pre-season.

Chelsea are thought to be closing in on a deal for Nathan Ake to bring their former defender back to the club from Manchester City. Meanwhile, a deal to bring in Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde is also expected to be thrashed out, as both clubs still need to agree on a fee.

Juventus' Matthijs de Ligt and Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly have also been linked with moves to Chelsea, whoch would no doubt leave Colwill's fuutre at the club in doubt. According to La Repubblica, Chelsea are ready to offer Napoli defender Koulibaly a €9.5m a year wage package to secure his signature.

For Forest, a move to Colwill would tick many boxes. He could flourish under Steve Cooper, but the Reds face competition from a number of clubs including Southampton, Leicester City, Brighton and Crystal Palace.

Forest have already bolstered their back line this summer with the signing of Moussa Niakhate, while full-backs Neco Williams and Omar Richards are also expected to join Cooper's squad before the start of the new season.
