Man City boss Pep Guardiola makes Champions League admission ahead of FA Cup final

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has insisted that he and his team are solely focused on Saturday's FA Cup final despite the Champions League final coming in seven days' time.

City wrapped up their Premier League title weeks ago and can take one step closer to claiming a historic treble if they beat the only English team to ever win it and their local rivals Manchester United at Wembley on Saturday. But it's a busy week for Guardiola's side as they will soon travel to Istanbul to take on Italian giants Inter in the Champions League final.

The Blues have never won Europe's top competition and claiming the elusive trophy has been the club and the manager's biggest target for a number of years. Despite being on the precipice of finally doing so, Guardiola has made it clear he hasn't even considered the match yet with the FA Cup final to play first.

"Next Saturday I'm not thinking about it, it's just today and after we see what happens," the manager told the BBC. When then asked how he has kept his players focussed, he continued: "Because it's the FA Cup final, it's attractive enough.

"[If it was a] Premier League game already being champions I could understand the players maybe focussing on the final of the Champions League but it's an FA Cup final so... Rarely you are here so few occasions in your life you can play the final of the FA Cup so once we are there we have to be focussed."

It's the first time the two Manchester clubs have met in the final of the competition and Guardiola believes it's a special occasion. He added: "It's the final of the FA Cup, we just talked about what we have to do to try to win the game. Of course, they're two teams in the same city, yeah, it's nice for the first time in FA Cup history to play the final both teams."
