Man City boss Pep Guardiola "convinced" to sign Portuguese star and Gabriel Jesus latest

Manchester City may be focused on securing a fourth Premier League title in five years, but they are still busy working on strengthening Pep Guardiola's squad.

City are looking at signing a top midfielder with Fernandinho finally quitting the Etihad this summer and have been linked with a Portuguese star in the Portuguese press. Southampton are keen on signing a teenage City striker, whose first-team opportunities could be hit by Erling Haaland's signing.

Arsenal remain keen on signing Gabriel Jesus from City and are said to be ready to open the bidding. Mirror Sport has the latest Manchester City transfer news.

Guardiola "already convinced" by Portuguese ace

Manchester City are keen on signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes, according to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha.

City want a midfielder to replace the departing Fernandinho and have identified Nunes. Nunes, 23, is valued at £34million or 40million euros by Sporting and it is being reported that Pep Guardiola is "already convinced" to sign him for City. Guardiola saw Nunes close up when he played against City in the Champions League in February.

Sporting are reportedly prepared to cash in on Nunes and he may have played his last game for them in their 4-0 win over Santa Clara on Saturday.

Saints want City teenager

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is reportedly keen on prising exciting young striker Liam Delap away from Manchester City, according to Sports Illustrated.

City have already signed Erling Haaland for £51million and may sign another forward, casting a question mark over the future of Delap at the Etihad. Hasenhuttl is a big admirer of Delap and would like to bring him to St Mary's. Delap, 19, has been limited to just cameo appearances for City and his first-team opportunities are unlikely to improve.

Hasenhuttl could offer him more game time at Southampton, but City may he reluctant to let him go and have him under contract under 2026.

Gunners ready Jesus bid

Arsenal believe they can tempt Gabriel Jesus to the Emirates following Erling Haaland's signing and his agent has confirmed the two sides are in talks.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claims Arsenal feel encouraged by their talks with Jesus camp to make an opening offer to City.

Romano said on twitter: "Arsenal are preparing the opening bid for Gabriel Jesus.

"Manchester City want around 50-60million euros to sell Gabriel this summer."
