Manchester City and Arsenal supporters were left bemused after a full-time fracas was sparked between Ben White and Phil Foden following Wednesday's Premier League encounter.
In footage circulating on social media, Foden walks to shake hands with Arsenal player Leandro Trossard after the match as White follows the City midfielder, grabbing the back of Foden's shirt. The two turn to face each other, putting their hands on one another before Foden forcefully pushes White away as Bernardo Silva involves himself and gets between them.
Several City and Arsenal players join, including Erling Haaland, Rodri, Jack Grealish and Kyle Walker. By this point, Foden has walked away from the situation. No cautions were shown to anyone for the incident by referee Michael Oliver, who eventually arrived on the scene as tensions eased and the players continued with their cordial post-match pleasantries.

Foden only came on for a cameo substitute appearance in the 87th minute, replacing Grealish in the aftermath of Arsenal pulling a goal back through Rob Holding. The 22-year-old then assisted City's fourth goal by finding Haaland.
The two protagonists have previously been England teammates, playing alongside each other during last year's friendly against Switzerland, and were both involved in the Three Lions squad at the World Cup in Qatar before White flew home for personal reasons. Grealish and Walker, who were both particularly active in the scuffle, have also represented their country alongside the Arsenal defender, who notably was not called up by Gareth Southgate during the March international break.
Here is a selection of the social media reaction to what transpired after the full-time whistle:
Man City's win leaves them just two points behind Arsenal in the Premier League standings, but with two games in hand on their rivals.
