Man City 2022/23 Premier League fixtures announced as Real Madrid aim Erling Haaland dig

Here are your Manchester City evening headlines on Thursday, June 16.

City Premier League fixtures announced

City will begin their Premier League campaign with a tricky trip to London to face West Ham United.

The Champions travel to the London Stadium on Sunday, August 7 for their opening fixture of the new season, but they'll be pleased with what could be seen as a relatively comfortable run of matches until the test of facing Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad on September 10.

Real Madrid aim Haaland dig

Florentino Perez insists Real Madrid are happy having missed out on Erling Haaland to City because they have Karim Benzema.

Real were in the race to sign Haaland, 21, from Borussia Dortmund, but appeared to switch their attentions to Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe, allowing City to complete a deal for Haaland.

However, Mbappe opted to sign a new contract at PSG, leaving Real without either striker, but president Perez insists they are happy to go into the next season with Ballon d'Or favourite Benzema - even suggesting Haaland would only sit on their bench if he had joined.
